13. Února 2018 Eguren - a family possessed by the pursuit of vineyard excellence
FIVE GENERATIONS OF WINE TRADITION
Since 1870, five generations of the family have been engaged in growing vines, processing and cultivating vineyards
following ripening of the best juices in Rioja. Wisdom and tradition are kept alive
because they are naturally transferred from parents to children. At the same time, the family adapts
modern technologies and respects the soil and grapevine.
The unmistakable personal approach that is reflected in the production of wines brings with it everyday life
the pursuit of improvement and passion for a good thing - from the demanding selection of the best
the conditions for wine growing up to the moment the wine gets to the good lover
quality.
The family and its wine cellars enjoy national and international prestige and have earned success
honors and prizes.

EXCELLENT WINES

The vineyard of Sierra Cantabria is predominantly located in the areas of San Vicente de la
Sonsierra, Labastida and Laguardia, which is the area famous for its wine growing and is known as the
Sonsierra.
Sonsierra is a sub-area of the Rioja Alta that crosses the left bank of the Ebro. It is
a territory that is very well protected from the north, and is typical of the landscape terraces that it
ranging from the Cantabrian Mountains to the river Ebro. At the same time he can pride himself
plenty of sun from the south and southwest, giving it a unique and distinctive character.
Predominantly Tempranillo and, to a lesser extent, Garnacha, Viura and Tempranillo
Peludo is grown on 35-year-old vineyards, some of the vineyards are even up to 70 years old.
The vineyards of San Vicente de la Sonsierra lie on clay-calcareous soil, which is similar
land in Rioja Alavesa, but more influenced by the Atlantic climate.
Soil that has a clay-lime composition and is poor in organic matter, nutrients and mineral salts,
is very suitable for growing grapes. On the other hand, plenty of fine pebbles,
alluvial and gravel soil provides natural drainage and optimal water retention. Subsoil
forms a cracked rock that allows the root of the grapevine to look for additional nutrients, which
helps to balance the individual components of the fruit.

TEMPORARY WINE

We plan to grow in accordance with the principles of integrated agriculture.
We respect the pair of high planting density and low production per hectare. We bet on
organic fertilizers and we use our own compost, which is composed of sheep's dung.
The harvest, which takes place every year, is entirely manual, and the special emphasis is strict
selection of fruits, which must be in optimal hygienic conditions and ripe.
This collection is completed by the exhaustive sorting of the grapes that takes place on the sorting table in
viticulture. We try to respect the nature of the environment (terroir) and in the wine industry
at least to interfere with the processing process.
EASY TO THE NIET

Viñedos de Páganos is a modern viticulture located in a medieval town
Laguardia in the Rioja Alavesa sub-area at about 600 meters above sea level. The winery is
surrounded by dolmen, archaeological sites, hermitages and ancient sites
medieval churches.
The winery shares the space with an exceptional El Puntido winery, whose name is derived from the ancient
words indicating the landing. It just reminds of the terrace that this vineyard creates between
The Cantabrian Mountains and the valley of the River Ebro. The area is under the influence of the Atlantic and the part also
continental climate, and the Cantabrian mountain range in the north is protected from cold
winds. The clay-lime or clay-clay soil with a higher mineral content lends
vineyard (and thus also wine) a unique mineral character with exceptional individuality. Subsoil
forms a sandstone in which the roots of the grapevine are blasted and the maximum use is made of each
skulinku. The Tempranillo variety is perfectly suited to these soils and reflects in the wine
"Terroir", a vineyard environment.
The vineyard is located on a 25-hectare gentle slope, which is oriented to the south and which
was planted in Tempranillo in 1975 by the so-called wall planting (espalier)
clay-clayey soil with limestone subsoil. Limited harvesting and careful craft harvesting
to create El Puntido wine.
Close to this area is La Nieta, a small plot of 1.75 hectares
medium-heavy soil of small depth and density on which the Tempranillo variety is also grown.
The soil of this area is poorer to nutrients than El Puntido, and the microclimate is totally different.

However, after the vineyard is allowed to have a slight vegetative growth and natural production, it is
they get the high quality fruits from which La Nieta is produced.
In the area of Páganos there are two estates of La Nieta and El Puntido, where predominantly of
of the Tempranillo variety produce two great wines of those names.
The vineyards are 30 years old on average and the grapevine is planted with the espalier system. Harvest of wine
it is exclusively hand-picked and the grapes are passed through two selections on the sorting tables. Professional hands
wine growers care for the fruit and the entire vineyard with love and respect. Grapes from La Nieta vineyard
manually peel off, and then the berries take over the berries to follow them
according to the traditional way.
While La Nieta vineyards are fermented in small new barrels of French origin
oak, the El Puntido vineyard is fermented in stainless steel tanks. Before and after fermentation
In addition, cider macerates.
Winery tries to produce unique wines of unique taste and delicacy, and therefore also
cooperates with various prestigious coopers and constantly monitors the ripening of the wine in the wood
barrels.

UNIQUE TERROR QUALITY
Teso La Monja introduces a new approach to wine production, while at the same time (after the Numathia-
Termes) is the second proof of the presence of our family in DO Toro. We work with heavier ones
soil - clayey with limestone veins in the subsoil - with gravel surface, which are
oriented to the north and offering longer vegetative cycles. These features allow us to get
strong and elegant wine that reflects the maximum potential of mineral soil.
Our ancient vineyards, which were planted with original tribes without grafting, are proud of their age
up to 130 years. Together with old vineyards with an average age of 50, they produce unique wines.
Just like our grandparents, we are dedicated to sustainable agriculture, thanks to which
we preserve viable land and the entire environment. We work with nature in harmony
with its cycles and plant biorhythms. We are looking for the natural balance of a small-scale vineyard
between 1 000 and 2 000 kg / ha. Our goal is to produce wine that boasts a maximum of purity and
it carries terroir, the environment from which it comes from.
