Dominio de Pingus, Pingus 2018, D.O. Ribera del Duero, red wine, 0,75l Peter Sisseck's coveted Pingus 2018 has just arrived. Exceptional vintage where this great wine reaches 100 Parker points for the fifth time. Pingus was born from two unique vineyards in La Horra - Barroso and San Cristóbal - which together comprise 4.2 hectares of vineyards planted with the Tinto Fino variety in 1929. Peter Sisseck started creating Pingus in 1995 and its production is limited to only 6,000 bottles a year. In years 2004, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 reached 100 points from critic Robert Parker. The aroma is full, intense, classy and dense, with a specific touch of archival cognac. It is a mineral-fruit wine (black currants, blueberries), with notes of vanilla, noble wood, herbs, spices and almonds. The wine is very well structured, full and concentrated despite its youth with huge maturing potential, strong mature fruit tannins and very long persistence.

Peter Sisseck's coveted Pingus 2018 has just arrived.
Peter Sisseck was born in Denmark and his passion for wine was sparked at the age of 14 when he visited his uncle, oenologist Peter Vinding, in Bordeaux. Later, in 1983 and 1984, he did an internship at Chateau Rahoul in the Graves region, and also at Sonoma (California) in Simi Winery. He studied agricultural engineering in Copenhagen and went to work with his uncle's family in Château Landiras.
In 1990 he accepted the post of technical director of the Hacienda Monasterio winery in Ribera del Duero. He became so fascinated by the local terroir that he began looking for an exceptional vineyard for his own wines. His efforts were rewarded with a unique plot of ancient bushes in La Horra. And here began a cult called Pingus (Peter's nickname), inspired by garage wines in Bordeaux; that is, full and concentrated wines without compromise.
The first year was published in 1995, and targeted marketing made it the wine you "must have." This fact was supported by the fact that some of the wines transported across the ocean sank, thus increasing demand. The rest of the work was completed by Robert Parker, who ranked Pingus as the first Spanish wine among the top 100 wines in the world with a score of 98 points and wrote "One of the best young red wines I ever drank."
The vineyard on which the wine is grown boasts more than 70 years of bushes and covers only 4.5 ha. Since 2000, everything has been vinified in accordance with biodynamic conditions and the yield is only 12 to 15 hl/ha. This is far less than, for example, the 25 hl/ha appeal limit for botrytic wines from Sauternes in Bordeaux. A little over 6,000 bottles are produced each year.
